About the Book :

This book is an anthology of selected papers for a holistic reassessment of Tribal issues in India. Through various case studies, it questions the various Constitutional provisions, welfare programmes etc. focusing on the upliftment of the tribal population along with development paradigm. This book  is an effort to reach out to the wider public with the ideas that call for action and to generate the dynamics of discourse to bring about a major transformation in the larger development paradigm.

About Author :

Nupur Tiwari is currently working as Associate Professor, Rural Administration and Panchayati Raj at  The  Indian Institute of Public Administration, (IIPA), New Delhi. She is also the Coordinator for Centre for Public Policy, Planning and Development.
She has thirty eight research papers/articles published in National and International journals. She has authored four books and three monographs and has contributed chapters in eleven in this volumes.
She has headed four major projects, commissioned by Government of India, in the capacity of the Project Director. She has also worked on  five  major  projects funded by IDRC, Irish Aid, Union  Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Ministry of Rural Development and UNDP. She has prepared several Reports for Government of India.
Earlier, she  served as  Senior Consultant to the former  Union Minister of Panchayati Raj, providing  inputs on Local  government. She was a faculty member at LBSNAA, Mussoorie, and was  involved  in training the Civil Servants.
She is a Member of Research Committee of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. She is also  a Member of Expert Committee of Women Study Centre of Mizoram University. She was  a  Member of Thematic Group on Panchayati Raj and Local-self Government set-up  by Ministry of DoNER. She was involved in the  Expert Committee for Leveraging  Panchayati Raj, set-up  by Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India. She was recently nominated as the Domain Expert for the spot study for Prime Minister's award for excellence in Public Administration.
