  • About Barun Mukherji

    Barun Mukherji, born in Calcutta in 1933, comes of a distinguished educationist family of West Bengal. Dr. Mukherji, B.Sc, M.A., Ph.D., B.Lib.Sc., a specialist Librarian in profession, was also associated with teaching in Library & Information Science in the Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He was long associated with public library movement and is presently the President of Bengal Library Association, as well as the President of the all India professional body IASLIC (Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres). Since his college days, he was attracted to socialist ideology and patriotism of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He was a Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) from 2006 to 2014. He was also a member of Parliament Library Committee. He is well known as a Netaji researcher and has some reputed publications to his credit. He also made exhaustive study on the History of Early Printed Books.
