About the Book :

At a time when we are at the cross roads in terms of the fiscal policies in the country as a whole in general and the Union State relations in particular, this book is a timely contribution to the study of flow of funds to the States linking the levels of development of the States to the financial flows through a variety of its command. It is exhaustive in terms of historical review and comprehensive in terms of capturing the flow of funds not only through the budgetary channels but also through market borrowings, all India institutions etc. The value of the work is enhanced by the mass of data that is appended in the second part of the book. A part from being a guide to the practitioners, the book is an excellent reference document to the students of India economic development. It provides wealth of information and raises issues helping in identification of fruitful areas of further research.
