About the Book :

The study seeks to examine the labour management relations in the Textile Industry of Jammu and Kashmir State and probes into the factors that help or obstruct the maintenance and development of harmonious relations between labour and management at industry level in a developing region. The author has examined in depth the working and living conditions of workers, followed by an examination of the degree of their job satisfaction and its associated variables. The study specifically identifies what the operative employees want from their first line supervisors and from management. Workers participation in management, the much talked about concept in the academic and political circles these days, is one of the major subject matters of Dr. Gani work. The author has combined conceptual analysis with empirical evidence and review of research findings to give a comprehensive picture of the industrial relations. The book will not only be of considerable interest and value to students, researchers, teachers, labour relations administrators, practicing managers and unionists, but will also prove quite stimulating in future thinking on the subject and for opening new vistas of action and research.
