About the Book :

Modern city is taking a new shape after renovating its older parts. The redevelopment is an essential criteria to keep up the growing needs of the citizens. This is particularly so in case of historical cities like Hyderabad. The book explores the redevelopment process and rightly relates it with the city vertical growth. Many urban areas in India have already reached the limits of horizontal growth and as a result the only alternative left is vertical development. The high rise growth is a new dimension of our modern cities. The book makes a detailed analysis of the high rise buildings with a view to understand the use of high rise space both for residential and commercial use and also its impact on urban environment. An attempt has also been made to highlight the socio economic implications of the high rise growth. This will have relevance to most of the developing countries where conditions are very much similar. The book is very useful to urban planners, building designers, administrators, academicians and researchers. As an occupant of the high rise building one will find this book of immense benefit, where it deals with various aspects of high rise buildings such as advantages, disadvantages, essential amenities and services etc. The layman and citizen can benefit from Dr. Reddy account of consideration that have gone into shaping the study of high rise building in Indian cities. This book will be of immense help to all those people who are directly or indirectly concerned with high rise development.
