About the Book :

The first publication in the series "Advances in Psychological Research in India" under the publication programme of the centre of Advanced Study in Psychology, Utkal University, this book documents a cross section of contemporary psychological research in India. It shows a definite trend in psychological researches towards study of Indian social issues. The book reflects a common concern for social development in all the contributions. The chapters are devoted to some specific aspects of applied social psychology, organizational behaviour, clinical psychology, educational and developmental psychology and comparative psychology with an applied focus. In this volume some very senior as well as young psychologists have contributed towards understanding of the Indian psychological perspective, through a variety of specific themes ranging from Prof. Durganand Sinha analysis of the Psyche of Indian people to the feminist issue in mental health, inter group relations, and quality of work life, etc.


About Author :

U.N. Dash a Masters degree from Utkal University and Ph.D. from the University of Alberta. Canada, U.N. Dash is the Head of the centre of Advanced study in Psychology at Utkal University where he has been teaching for over 20 years. He has been a KILLAM Scholar and a visiting Professor in Canada. He has Published extensively in national and international Journals in the areas of Cognitive and Educational Psychology as well as Research Methodology. Schooling and Cognition, and Statistics are the areas of his special interest. He is the Principal author of  Schooling and Cognition (With M.M. Mohanty published by the centre of Advanced study in Psychology Utkal University).

Uday Jain, M.A. Sagar University. Ph.D., Rajasthan University, is currently the Professor and Head, Department of Psychology, Barkatullah, University, Bhopal. Earlier, he taught at the University of Rajasthan, Allahabad University, North Eastern Hills University and Sagar University. Professor Jain was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Chicago and Swart more College in USA. He has published in reputed Journals in India and abroad, in the area of social, and environmental psychology. He is the author of Psychological Consequences of Crowding (Sage 1987) and has edited: Perspectines on Environment and Behaviour (Har-Anand, 1997). He has been the principal-Co-Investigator of CIDA-Shastri  Indo-Canadian Project on Community and Regions Overcoming Ecological Crisis.
