Ranjit Kumar Banerjee, M. Sc. Ph. D. (University of Colcutta) is one of the senior geographers of India with specialisation in Thematic Cartography and Mapping. He joined The National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organisation, (NATMO), Government of India 1958, and retired as Joint Director in 1993.

Bireswar Banerjee is a renowned geographer of international celebrity. He is the first to obtain D. Lit. Degree (University of Calcutta) from India. He is well versed in various branches of Geographical sciences particularly in the field of Social and Cultural Geography, Environmental Geography of Social Well being, Economic Geography, Regional Development and Planning. He is presently as UGC Project Coordinator (as retired Professor), University of Calcutta, Calcutta.
