Situating the geography and history of the region, it traces the genesis and development of British forest policy. It also examines the socio-economic and environmental impact of the policy on the people as well as on the state as a whole. The book will be especially useful for historians, students, teachers, researchers, botanists, environ-mentalists and policy-makers.
