About Author :
V.B. Singh (b. 1950) did B.Sc.(Ag.), M.Sc.(Ag.) and Ph.D. in Horticulture from Banaras Hindu University. Starting his career as a Training Assistant in Horticulture at Institute of Agriculture, Kosbadhill, Maharashtra, he joined North Eastern Hill University in 1981 as a Lecturer. Subsequently, he has occupied positions of Reader in 1988 and Head, Department of Horticulture, at School of Agriculture Sciences, NEHU, Medziphema in 1990. He took over as the Principal of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Satna, Majhgawan, M.P. in 1993 with additional charge of Project Officer, Milli Watershed Project, Majhgawan. Dr. Singh was appointed as Professor and Head, Department of Horticulture in 1996 and occupied the position of Dean, School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development, Nagaland University at Medziphema in 1997 for a period of three years. Besides two books, viz. Fruits of North East Region and Spices of India he has more than 100 papers to his credit and guided 25 member of postgradue centre students Dr. Singh is a life member of various academic societies, Executive Councillor for Indian Society of Vegetable Science, President of the Horticultural Society of North East India and chairman/members of various boards. He was awarded Honour of Distinction Maharshi - Horticulture (Spices) by the Society for the Protection of Environment and Sustainable Development, BHU, Varanasi (2003) and Certificate of Honour by Nagaland University on Silver Jubilee Day of SASRD (2003) for his valuable services rendered as Dean.
Pauline Alila did B.Sc. (Ag.) in 1987 and her M.Sc. (Ag.) horticulture in 1991 from North Eastern Hill University. She received her Doctorate Degree in Horticulture during 2001 from Nagaland University. She started her career as Agriculture Inspector in the Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland in 1991 and presently working as Lecturer in the Department of Horticulture under Nagaland University since 1999. She has published a good number of research paper in reputed national journals. She is life member of many Academic Societies. Besides teaching she is also involved in transfer of production technology in the field of horticulture/agriculture in the state of Nagaland.
Akali Sema, did her B.Sc.(Ag.) from NEHU in 1985, M.Sc.(Hort.) from Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan in 1988 and Ph.D. in Horticulture from Nagaland University in 1996. Started her career as Lecturer in the Department of Horticulture, NEHU in the year 1989, hand became Reader in Nagaland University during 1997. Presently, she is also Principal Investigator in one of the Major Research Projects on Pineapple funded by ICAR. She is involved in teaching and research in the field of post-harvest management of horticulture crops and also actively engaged in extension activities through RAWE programme as well as training to farmers and field functionaries of Government of Nagaland in the field of Agriculture/Horticulture. She has published more than 25 research papers in reputed national journals. She is a life member of various academic societies and Secretary of The Horticultural Society of North East India.
C.S. Maiti completed his M.Sc.(Ag.) in Horticulture and Ph.D. (Fruits and Orchard Management) from BCKVV, West Bengal in 1996 and 2001, respective!y. He is currently working as Lecturer in the Department of Horticulture, Nagaland University, SASRD Medziphema since 2000. Dr. Maiti is a member of School Board (SASRD), BPGS and life member of many academic societies. He has published a number of research papers in national and international journals of repute. He has been teaching basic and advanced courses in pomology to the undergraduate and post-graduate students of horticulture and guided several post-graduate students.
