This book analyses the role of Venture Capital in developing and promoting biotechnology in India. Outlining the importance of development and promotion of biotechnology in the new economic era, it makes an in-depth study of the policies of selected Venture Capital funds in promoting and developing the biotechnological companies. It further identifies the problems of biotech units financed by Venture Capital funds, and examines their role in promoting the first generation biotech scientists entrepreneurs. The needs and the knowledge gap of biotech units towards Venture Capital also been highlighted.

R.K. Mishra is currently Senior Professor and Director, Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad. Earlier, he has taught at the University of Bradford, United Kingdom and was a visiting Professor of Maison Des Sciences De L Hommes, Paris. He has several international and national publications to his credit including two on biotech-Educational Infrastructure for Biotechnology in India, and Venture Capital Financing for Biotechnology. He is Vice-President, International Association of Schools and Institutes in Administration (IASIA), Brussels. He is the Chairman of the Working Group II: Public-Private-Partnership and Enterprise Management constituted by IASIA. He is on the Steering Committee of Network of Asia-Pacific Schools and Institutes of Public Administration and Governance (NAPSIPAG) supported by the Asian Development Bank. He is Honorary Member on the Board of Research, American Biographical Institute, USA.
T. Satyanarayana Chary is Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, Telangana University, Nizamabad, Andhra Pradesh. He holds post-graduation degrees in Commerce (Gold Medalist) from Kakatiya University and Financial Management from Pondicherry University. He received the doctoral degree in Commerce and Business Management from Kakatiya University. His research work won the best paper award from Kakatiya University in the year 2004. He also secured consolation prize for his research paper on Capital Account Convertibility-Makes the Elephant Dance from IIFT and 3rd best Ph.D. thesis award from PIMR, Indore. Recently, he has secured the ISTD-ONGC best book award for his book Venture Capital- Concepts & Applications, published by Macmillan India Limited. Dr. Chary has published a number of articles and research papers in leading journals. His areas of specialization include Financial, Cost and Management Accounting, Financial Management, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Financial Services, Venture Capital and Financial Engineering.
