About Author :

Sankar Sen is presently a senior fellow at the Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi. He is a distinguished member of the India Police Service allotted to Odisha Cadre. He served in the Intelligence Bureau for 7years and also served as the Director, National Police Academy, Hyderabad and Director General of National Human Rights Commission. He is deeply involved in the human rights sensitization of the Indian police and personnel of para military forces and improvement of prison administration. He was awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service as well as President's Medal for Distinguished Service. His articles on law enforcement, terrorism, human rights, custodial justice, trafficking in women and children etc. regularly appear in national dailies and wellknown magazines in and outside the country. He has authored many books, including, Indian Police Today, Human Rights in Developing Society, Human Rights and Inhuman Wrongs, Enforcing Police Accountability through Civilian Oversight, Tryst with Law Enforcement and Human Rights.
