About Author :
The Author is Professor Emeritus at the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon. He completed his assignment as founder Director of the fourth national level Institute of Management at Lucknow in July 1988. Prior to this; Chief Technical Adviser, International Labour Organization in Lagos, Nigeria; Director, Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi and Senior Professor at Indian Institute of Management at Calcutta and later in Ahmedabad. Prof. Dayal came to teaching in 1963 after having worked for about 15 years in senior managerial positions in industry. Prof. Dayal has been consultant to many large organizations in India such as Life Insurance Corporation, Air India, Indian Airlines, Mafatlal Industries, Balmer Lawrie Group, DCM and others. He has served on several commissions and committees of the Union and State Governments. Prof. Dayal has served on the Corporate Boards of several organizations such as Bharat Electronics Ltd., Indo-Burmah Petroleum, Indian Oil Corporation, National Textile Corporation and others. Prof. Dayal has published 22 books and monographs and over 250 papers in journals and periodicals in India and abroad.
Amrit kala Dayal has earlier served as a journalist on Illustrated Weekly of India and as an editor of books for publication. Besides writing for children she has done many feature articles on art and culture. From editing books on management, Mrs. Dayal took to writing on management in simpler language for lay readers and has been engaged on applying its concepts to native culture and tradition. She has worked closely with her husband in the application of these to management systems.
