About the Book :
This book discusses the issue based analytical area Special Economic Zones in India. A National Level Seminar sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research was conducted in order to analyse the Prospects and Implications of Special Economic Zones in India. The main theme is categorized into three sub themes as: SEZ and Economic Development, SEZ and Socio and Economic implications, SEZ and Issues and Strategies. A few selected papers presented in the seminar are edited as book in two volumes and entitled as "Development of Special Economic Zones in India" Vol I deals with the Policies and Issues of SEZ covered by thirty selected papers and Vol II analyses impact and implications of SEZ's with the twenty nine papers.
About Author :
M. Soundarapandian is Professor of Rural Industries and Management and Head of the Department of Rural Industries and Management, Gandhigram Rural Institute Deemed University, Gandhigram. He did his post graduation in Economics, Business Administration and Education at Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai and later he obtained a Doctorate in Economics from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. He has published 117 Articles in various National and International Journals and in the edited books to his credit. He has also published 24 books in various field of Rural Industries and Management, Economics and Entrepreneurship Development. He has completed 25 years of teaching experience at Post Graduate Level. Dr. M. Soundarapandian has conducted 17 minor and major research projects with the financial assistance of UGC, ICSSR, Ministry of Rural Development, BGVS, New Delhi and State Resource Centre for Non-formal Education, Chennai. Under the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) many skill development training programmes are conducted for the promotion of Self-Help Groups in Tamil Nadu and he also completed an action project on Entrepreneurship Development in Tsunami affected area of 'Tamil Nadu' funded by International Labour Organisation (ILO), Geneva. Under his guidance and supervision 15 candidates got the Ph.D Degree and 61 candidates got the M.Phil degree. He has organized 18 National Level Seminars, Workshops and Refresher Courses for college teachers. He is national level consultant of Rural Industrialization and Entrepreneurship Development. His areas of interest include Economic Reforms, Public Distribution System and Rural Entrepreneurship. He has visited many foreign countries for presenting papers in the International Conferences.
