About Author :

Shahid Rasool is Director, Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC), University of Kashmir. He also Heads the Media Education Research Centre at the University. A former U.S. Fulbright fellow in Communication technology, he has done M.A. Ph.D in Mass Communication and Journalism from University of Kashmir and M.S in Communications, with specialization in Radio, Television and Film, from the Syracuse University, New York, U.S.A. Dr. Shahid has been involved in teaching of mass communication at postgraduate level, production of educational television films/ documentaries and research in educational media for over two decades. He is also engaged in production of educational multimedia for the last 5 years. Besides production of over 300 educational television films, including four national level award winning films, over 30 e-contents/multimedia, over 100 Learning Objects for the Learning Object (LOR) of Consortium for Educational Communication, he has authored several research papers/ articles published in reputed journals. A member on several national and State level committees boards Dr. Shahid has attended over 30 international/national seminars, workshops and conferences. He has been a member of various core groups, constituted by CEC-UGC, for drafting policy documents for use of information and communication technology for higher education. A widely travelled person, Dr. Shahid is passionate about use of television and new technologies for taking quality education to the doorsteps of students, irrespective of their geographical location. He believes technology can be a great help in equalizing educational opportunities for all across the globe.
