Right to Information became a law in 2005 but its implementation in different states of India has been uneven. This book focuses on the position of Rule of Law and Right to Information as it is beginning to unfold since its recent inception. This book seeks to bring out the genesis, the points of jurisprudence and principles of governance with an attempt to bridge the gap between citizen and the state. The book is of interest and use to policy makers, scholars and researchers interested in rule of law, issue of representation and accountability as well as legal fraternity.
About Author :
Abhishek Shukla is a practising lawyer at Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh. He has the experience of pursuing legal practice through District Courts, Punjab State Commission, Haryana State Commission and Debt Recovery Tribunal. His grasp over procedural law, stages of trial and cross-examination skills were enhanced by working with Mr. Rohit Sapra, a leading legal practitioner at District Courts, Chandigarh. Having worked as Assistant Lawyer to Mr. Rajeev Atma Ram, Senior Advocate Punjab and Haryana High Court, the author further honed his skills in Criminal Law, Service Law, Law of Contract, Negotiable Instruments Act and Constitutional Law.
Surinder K. Shukla, after doing masters from Punjab University in 1976, became the recipient of Doctoral Research Fellowship from University Grants Commission. She has published extensively in journals of national and international repute besides writing books and contributing chapters to several books, some of which have been cited in International Political Science Abstracts, Paris, France. Travelled extensively in India and abroad. Dr. Shukla has been elected Board Member of various Research Committees of International Political Science Association since 1994. Currently she is Professor of Political Science at Punjab University, Chandigarh.
