About the Book :

This book describes more or less a comprehensive picture, not only of historical, geographical and demographical backgrounds, but also of various aspects of socio-economic condition of the people of all the North East states including Sikkim. The North East India is mostly a hilly region and the economy of this region is primarily based on agriculture. In this book, the author not only tries to present the picture of almost all the aspects of socio-economic development in a descriptive way, but he also tries to represent this with the help of numerical facts and figures showing inter-state, intra-region and region-country comparison at different points of time. It will definitely help in understanding the availability and deficiencies in various facets of economic and human development and can be a good guide for research work and for future planning.
