Rekha M. Shangpliang is Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology, NEHU. Her areas of specialization are Sociology of Environment, Sociology of Family and Kinship and Sociology of Gender. She has to her credit two books — Forest in the Life of the Khasis and Socio-Economic Dimension of Forest among the Khasis as well as a number of articles on Matriliny, Gender and Kinship published in National and International journals.
