About Author :


Jagdish Chander Mehta is Head of P.G. Department of Sociology at D.A.V College, Chandigarh. He is a member of Post Graduate and Undergraduate Board of Studies in Sociology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He is gold medalist in M.A. (Sociology) from Punjabi University, Patiala and got his Ph.D Degree in Sociology from Panjab University, Chandigarh. His areas of specialization are Sociology of Education, Sociology of Development, Family and Gender, Labour and Migration. He has been teaching Sociology to undergraduate, honours and Post-Graduate students since 2001. He is a member of Editorial Board of refreed Research Journal DIVINER-A Research Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences. As a resource person, he has delivered extension lectures and presented number of papers on diverse themes in national and international level seminars. He has published number of books and research papers in various journals of repute. He has successfully completed two research projects. Funded by UNODC office, New Delhi and Department of Labour, Government of Haryana. He has also supervised many students at M. Phil and Ph.D level. He is also the President of HEAL SOCIETY Chandigarh-a voluntary organization registered under Society Registration Act, 1860.
