Gaya Pandey (b. 1954) was Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Ranchi University, Ranchi (Jharkhand). After passing M.Sc. in Anthropology from Ranchi University in 1979 with first division, he joined at A.N. Sinha Institute of Social Studies, Patna as Doctoral Research Fellow, University Grants Commission, Government of India for his Doctoral Research Programme. He was awarded Ph.D. degree by Ranchi University in 1984 and got honour to join UGC Centre of Advance Study, Department of Anthropology, Ranchi University, Ranchi in February 1985. Ever since he served in the department as a teacher and as a researcher till his retirement in February 2019. During his 39 years of service as Researcher and Teacher, he has contributed two and half dozen articles in Journals of national and international repute and in edited books. He has to his credit publication of 24 books in Hindi and English medium on different branches of anthropology which have been included as course books in different universities in India where anthropology is taught.
