About the Book :

Economic growth becomes inclusive when it creates economic opportunities along with ensuring equal access to all people of a nation. The inclusive growth can be achieved by forming social capital which can be defined as the quality and quantity of relationships, networks, and norms among people and organizations that facilitate collective action. In India, micro-finance institutions and programmes have adopted numerous innovative ways of providing credit and savings services to the entrepreneurial poor in order to make them financially inclusive. The book looked into the impact of the progress of micro-finance in Kerala and further examined how social capital formation among marginalized and vulnerable sections of the society through micro-finance helped the poor, especially in the context of inclusive growth. The micro-finance origanisation selected for the purpose of the book is Kudumbashree which is an internationally renowned model operating in the State of Kerala.
