About the Book :

This is the second edition of Research Methodology: A Handbook. The first edition was published in 1989. The new edition has an additional chapter on Statistical Analysis of Data which covers the basics of statistics which a researcher must know. It dwells on Arithmetic Mean, Analysis of Variance, Chi Square, Chi Square Test for Goodness of Fit, Chi Square Test for Independence, Lorentz Curve, Gini-coefficient and Pareto Distribution. Statistical analysis of data collected from the field or secondary sources is a must to scientifically prove or disapprove hypotheses and arrive at right conclusions. This new chapter is sure to help students of various disciplines especially of social sciences in writing their research reports for their M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees. This small book of just seven chapters tells researchers in brief almost everything they need to know about research methodology all the way from what constitutes scientific research to writing a research report. It even gives the format of scientific writing and tells how to prepare references, bibliography, tables and what are the abbreviations in common use. Thus the book is a complete manual of research that researchers especially the M.Phil. and Ph.D. students need.
