About the Book :

The text book entitled "Perspectives in Human Geography" is designed to cover the requirements of the various undergraduate level syllabuses of Human Geography in India in general and that of CBCS syllabus of University of Delhi in particular. The book is divided into five parts. The first part covers the concept, major themes of Human Geography and its contemporary relevance. The second part covers world cultural realms, and characteristics and global distribution of race, religion and language. The third part covers population growth, distribution, composition, migration and along with population theories. Part four focuses on settlement which covers distinction between rural and urban settlement, determinants of rural settlement, classification of urban settlement and world urbanization pattern. The fifth part focuses on population-resource region with the concepts of under population, over population, optimum population and carrying capacity of regions. This book provides many basic and other useful materials for optional subjects such as Population Geography, Cultural Geography, Urban Geography and Resource Geography. The book would be of an immense help to both students and teachers of Geography and other related social sciences.

About Author :

Punyatoya Patra is Associate Professor in the Department of Geography, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, University of Delhi. Her research interests include Human Geography, Natural Resource Management, Remote Sensing and GIS. She is the recipient of Best Lecturer Award from Government of Delhi (2011).

Rajesh Kumar Abhay is Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi. His research interests include Resource Management, Regional Planning and Sustainability Studies. He is the recipient of Young Geographer Award of the National Association of Geographers, India (2014).

Roshani Devi is Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, University of Delhi. Her research interests include Resource Management and Environmental Disasters.

Gaurav Sikka is Assistant Professor in University Department of Geography, L.N. Mithila University, Darbhanga. He holds position of Secretary and Treasurer, International Geographical Union (IGU) Task Force for Young and Early Career Geographers. His research interests include Social Geography and Gender Studies.
