B.V. Sharma is a trained Anthropologist with research interests in Medical Anthropology, Anthropology of Education and Community Participation in Development. He obtained his Master’s Degree from University of Pune and M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degrees from University of Hyderabad. Currently he is associated with the Department of Anthropology at University of Hyderabad. He teaches Medical Anthropology to the students of Masters programme in Anthropology and to the students of Master of Public Health in the University of Hyderabad.
Besides publishing and guiding many students in the areas of his interest for M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degree, Prof. Sharma conducted research projects for several International bodies like W.H.O. (Geneva & New Delhi), World Bank (New Delhi), DFIDI (New Delhi) and F.A.O. (Rome). He is currently working on ‘Production and social distribution of ethnomedical knowledge’, ‘Uniformity and divergence in ethnomedical treatment’, ‘Therapy Management in Chronic Illnesses’ and ‘Internet use and health decision making’
