  • About Binu Sundas

    Binu Sundas, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Systems and Anthropology, Sikkim University and is currently the Department Co-ordinator. He is the founding member of the department. He completed his Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is a native of Kurseong, District Darjeeling and is a Goethals Alumni. His area of research interest has been sociology of health. For his M.Phil dissertation he has worked on Alcohol Consumption and Health of the People in Darjeeling Hills: An Analysis of Socio-Cultural and Development Factor. He has done exclusive research in the hills of Darjeeling. Before joining Sikkim University he worked as a consultant in Educational Development North East Region Unit, IGNOU, New Delhi. He has also written units on tribes of UP and Delhi for IGNOUs Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work. He has also worked as a researcher with Action Aid International, New Delhi and was part of the team writing the report Time to Act II: Positive Voices: Emerging Governance Issues on HIV and AIDS in Asia. He has also worked with Indian Institute of Dalit studies as a researcher for the project, Dalit Children and their Discrimination in Various Dimensions.
