  • About Jehangir N. Chubb

    Jehangir N. Chubb was born in 1910. After passing the M.A. examination from the Bombay University, standing first class first in Philosophy, he went to Oxford where, working on the topic of Error and IIIusion, he received the degree of D. Phil. In 1937. He retired as professor and Head of the Department of Philosophy in the Maharashtra Education Service in 1965 and was appointed Honorary Professor of Philosophy by the University Grants Commission from 1965 to 1969 under the Scheme for Utilization of the teaching/research experience of distinguished teachers. Dr. Chubb was a visiting Professor at Temple University, Philadelphia and Case Western Reserve University at Cleveland in the U.S.A. He has writer numerous articles on philosophical subjects many of which have been published. While in India he was elected General President of the Indian Philosophical Congress in 1966 and was invited to give named lectures: the Pratap Seth Vedanta lecture, the Principal Miller lectures at the Madras University and the K.C. Bhattacharyya lectures at the Calcutta University. His Presidential Address was on Philosophical Arguments and Disagreement.
